Artist Statement:
Born in Seattle in 1970 and raised in the airport-dominated suburb of Seatac, Troy currently lives and works in a sense-inspiring neighborhood of West Seattle. He is an artist fueled by an innate introspection, pop-culture influences and a working-class upbringing. He possesses a thinly-veiled exhibitionistic craving, and is intent on self-expression and self-discovery through his art.

Common threads throughout Troy's creations are a darkened sensuality, a subtle other-worldliness, and an indelible magnetism. Past series include dream-inspired three dimensional wall units, multi-layered stream-of-consciousness digital transparencies, and a diary of surrealistic paintings.

Amidst a creative rebirth, Troy is now stepping firmly into a style that can be best described as minimalist. His latest challenge is to portray and evoke an array of emotions and concepts by utilizing the most basic design elements and color palettes with traditional and experimental media combinations in single and multi-piece works. These sharp, clean, immediately appealing and accessible pieces seem initially simple in composition. Upon further examination and contemplation however, they reveal a definite complexity and possess a highly meditative quality. This new work is intended as a visual antidote to our society’s mega-stimulation tendencies, and Troy is very excited and anxious to share it.
