Rachel Cogger
Rachel Cogger's show entitled Single Account is a group of new, mixed media work that explores the boundaries between reality and fiction. Utilizing a fantasy landscape, she evokes topics of fear, desire, the need to escape, anxiety, and the loss of control.
The work is an exploration and analysis of how our imagination makes
connections between varied and seemingly disparate imagery. For example,
"evidence" (not shown here) is gathered investigating the existence
of extra-terrestrials. This investigation makes visual connections between
crop circle patterns, vintage jewelry patterns, and the use of mock clues
filtered through the lens of child-like fantasy.
Places or events are described through fictionalized memory, and imagery
is pieced together in a filmstrip fashion to create a ghost, or impression,
of a past event from a singular perspective.
